3D Printing in VET project partners meet online for 2nd transnational meeting

Last 18th May the second transnational meeting of the «3D Printing in VET» European project took place online via Zoom due to coronavirus-related travel restrictions still in place.

During the virtual meeting project partners discussed several topics related to the project’s development, taking into special consideration the mitigating circumstances of COVID-19 that could delay the accomplishment of certain milestones and how to overcome these drawbacks. This meeting should have been held in Lublin, Poland but also at risk of not going ahead as planned (face-to-face) is the next scheduled meeting set for October. Discussions included requesting a possible six-month project extension to ensure all tasks are carried out as originally planned and to better navigate the coronavirus limitations.3D Printing VET project logoSpecial emphasis was made on the next steps, which are the creation of the training content for teachers in VET centres and secondary schools to help them integrate 3D printing technology in formal and vocational education. In order to take 3D printing to classrooms, the project will create a training course for trainers, which will be uploaded to an E-learning Moodle platform and made accessible to teachers and trainers. Also in the pipeline is the training of trainers activity planned for February 2020 in Italy if the coronavirus doesn’t delay it further.

From Inercia Digital we want to thank project coordinator KEKAPER Region of Crete (Greece) and the host partner for this meeting, EELI (Greece) as well as all participating partners from UNINETTUNO (Italy), KIT (Germany), CEIPES (Italy), WSEI Lublin (Poland) and ETIC (Portugal).

In the meantime, you can visit 3D Printing in VET’s official website, where the project’s first results have been uploaded. The first is a report compiling the findings on the state of 3D Printing education in schools and VET centres at European level and the existence of specific 3D Printing training for teachers. The second is a report investigating teachers and trainers’ needs in order to bring 3D printing to the classroom
