First training activity of the ABA-ONV Project in Lithuania // Primer curso de formación del Proyecto ABA-ONV en Lituania

The first training activity of the ABA – Our New Vision in Special Education Project was held in Vilnius, Lithuania between the 8th and 12th of May, 2017. Our Lithuanian partner, Siauliu r. Kursenu lopselis-darzelis «Eglute», was the responsible of organizing and executing the activity.

ABA-ONV is an Erasmus+ Project which is focused on the integration of ABA therapy on the Education System. ABA therapy can be used not only in children with autism education, but is also applicable in children with mental retardation, social, emotional and behavioral disorder as well as with education disorders. ABA based therapies and interventions are most effective in people with autism to improve their quality of life, teaching them skills to adapt to the environment and everyday life in society. The project has three main goals: 1. To improve the opportunities for ABA training at schools; 2. To create ABA training programme and adapt it with ICT use; 3. To get practical experience in ABA trainings.

The first training activity was geared towards professionals who work with autistic children, both special education teachers or psychologists and social workers at autism or special education centers.

During the activity, professionals sent by the partners from Italy, Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and Lithuania had the opportunity to share their knowledge and learn about the ABA methodology on the education system. A lecturer from Lithuania imparted lessons to introduce the methodology and the way how to apply it on autistic children’s therapy.

Furthermore, during the stay in Lithuania, the participants had the opportunity of visiting the preschool organization “Ciauskutis” in Vilnius and the Kindergarten “Eglute” in Kursenai, coordinator of the project, to get first-hand knowledge of how specialists of the kindergartens apply the methodology.

El primer evento de formación del Proyecto ABA Our New Vision in Special Education  tuvo lugar en Vilna, Lituania desde el día 8 al 12 de Mayo de 2017. Nuestros socios lituanos, Siauliu r. Kursenu lopselis-darzelis “Eglute”, fueron los responsable de organizar y llevar a cabo la actividad.

ABA-ONV es un Proyecto bajo el programa Erasmus+ enfocado a la integración de la terapia ABA en el Sistema Educativo. La terapia ABA puede usarse no sólo en niños con autismo, sino que también es aplicable en niños con retraso mental, trastorno social, emocional y de comportamiento, así como con trastornos en la educación. Las terapias e intervenciones basadas en ABA son más eficaces en las personas con autismo para mejorar su calidad de vida, enseñándoles habilidades para adaptarse al medio ambiente y a la vida cotidiana en la sociedad. El proyecto tiene tres objetivos principales: 1. Mejorar las oportunidades de capacitación en ABA en las escuelas; 2. Crear un programa de capacitación ABA y adaptarlo al uso de las TICs; 3. Obtener experiencia práctica en los programas de formación en ABA.

Durante la actividad, profesionales enviados por las organizaciones asociadas procedentes de Italia, España, Turquía, Bulgaria, Grecia y Lituania tuvieron la oportunidad de compartir sus conocimientos y aprender sobre la metodología ABA en el Sistema Educativo. Una ponente de Lituania impartió lecciones donde presentó la metodología y la forma de aplicarla en la terapia con niños autistas.

Además, durante la estancia en Lituania, los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la Institución de Preescolar “Ciauskutis” en Vilna y la Guardería “Eglute” en Kursenai, quienes son coordinadores del proyecto, para conocer de primera mano cómo aplican los especialistas de estos centros la metodología.
