The attendees were trained to detect fake news, thanks to the online workshop ‘’ Fake News ’’ of the Erasmus + MIL project !

This workshop was a success, since the attendees were able to understand the concept of »Fake News» and be able to differentiate the different types of bad information that appear on the internet, and what are the reasons why these fake news are published. Participants had also the opportunity to learn about different methods to disprove fake news safely, such as the use of personalized search engines. These aspects are pretty important for anyone since we must have adequate responsibility not to share false news and thus have negative consequences such as hurting another person, denigrating an institution …

They also had the opportunity to carry out different activities together, such as exposing their personal experiences, commenting if they had ever seen false news or knew someone who had shared false news with them.

Another activity that the attendees enjoyed was seeing two news items uploaded on the Internet, and through different guidelines provided by Inercia Digital, they were able to discover that this news was not true. The guidelines we provided to attendees were:

  • Who is the author or source?
  • Are the facts described realistic?
  • Why was this content created?
  • Could it be interpreted in another way?

Here, we attach a photograph of the headline of the news in case you want to look it up and draw your own conclusions.

This news has a very direct headline, a statement that makes us doubt, therefore this workshop gave different guidelines to step by step to identify and differentiate a real news from a false one.
