European project DIGIFARMER celebrates 5th transnational meeting online

The fifth transnational meeting of the DIGIFARMER project took place yesterday on 27th May and was held online via Zoom due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions in place. The online meeting was done a month ahead of time foreseeing that all project partners would be unable to physically travel to the original agreed location in Turkey.

Despite not being able to meet in person, all 8 project partners ((Inercia Digital, Euroform RFS, AKETH, Hospitality Training Institute, Aydin Adnan Menderes Universitesi, Soke Zirai Uretim Isletmesi Tarimsal Yayim ve Hizmetici Egitim Merkezi Mudurlugu,Karpuzlu Ziraat Odasi y Aydin Valiligi) from 5 different countries as well as the coordinator from AYDIN IL TARIM VE ORMAN MUDURLUGU, met online through Zoom and debated about the new limitations presented by the COVID-19 global situation. We talked about the inevitable postponing of some project activities such as the implementation of the national Testing Pilot Courses in Digital Skills for 25 Farmers.

Regardless of the foreseen delays, we agreed to continue working without further disruptions in other project tasks and milestones such as the Farmers Platform, a virtual space whose goal is to connect farmers, rural workers and everyone in the agricultural sector through a dedicated forum for the exchange of ideas, experiences and contacts. It will also feature different sections to share similar free online courses that could be of interest (not exclusively related to agriculture but mostly about industries in the agricultural chain, food, distribution, etc.), news articles and blogs.

DIGIFARMER was originally scheduled to finish on October 2020 but seeing the obstacles we’ve had to face in recent months due to the coronavirus pandemic, the project has applied for a six-month extension so that we can ensure optimum progress and the reaching of all our goals with the maximum quality possible.
