Ventajas de aprender una segunda lengua para tu empresa // Advantages for your company of learning a second language

Advantages for your company of learning a second language

As a general truth, nowadays languages are an essential element to a business that is looking to go beyond the frontiers of its country. But, what are the precise reasons to give your employees the opportunity, or even to yourself, of coming inside the fascinating world of the foreign languages? This is the question we are going to answer in this post.

To begin with, to know a second language will open you the door of a world that is completely new  and unknown, because in spite of saying that we are all humans, we do not share the culture, which for better or for worse divide us till places we wouldn’t suspect. But here I refer to a new world where we can find X quantity of additional information only by having the advantage of knowing how to speak another language, because as we can imagine, in a huge amount of people there should be someone that has thought and investigated about the themes we are concerned on and have decided to publish something on it, which will make easier the analysis or project in which we are working.

On the other hand there are social networks, in which we can decide to be monolingual, bilingual, trilingual, and to reach as many destinies as languages we handle, because each one will represent a way through which we will have the opportunity of promoting our company, and as we know new things of other companies or people of interest, the users of the social networks would comprehend what we say, which will give us many more opportunities of creating possible clients and of expanding our frontiers. In the social networks we will also have more chances to receive opinions from the users that visit our web sites, and that will allow us to learn what their vision is about our publications on our work. Moreover, to acknowledge how other cultures work through a language may help us to adapt certain aspects of our company to that determined population, so that we can provide them with the adequate offers.

Furthermore, to understand a second language give us also the option of establishing links with companies from different places of the world where that same language is spoken, which will allow us to build with them new projects in common while we enrich ourselves in the cultural and professional aspects. Finally, if we focus in the economy of our business, we will have the advantage of having our staff qualified to understand and produce in a second language, then we won’t have to employ a single person that is specialized in that field.

Otherwise, and although I don’t want to say that a language is better than the other, I think that we would agree if we say that the Anglo-Saxon countries are the ones that are more influential nowadays, as for example in the fields of the economy, politics and mass media, to the point that to be in tune with their cultures has transformed in something fashionable. Then, if we have to point at a language as the ideal one and that serves as a lingua franca today, without any doubts it should be English. However, any language provides us with the advantages signaled before. Now we only have to evaluate which language is the one that is more convenient to our business, as the suitability of one language or another depends on our professional field.
