Undoubtedly, technology is increasingly present in education, either in the form of tablets, as in the form of interactive projectors or a long line of electronic devices that facilitate and help us to teach that message that we want to give in a way that is more attractive and entertaining.

We have all dreamed of robots in our homes or supermarkets or anywhere we were, although it is true that we have not yet reached that point in the futuristic movies, we are gradually getting closer. Today getting our own » robots » is much simpler than we think, and above all, within the reach of anyone with only one requirement, the motivation of creating something by yourself. This is thanks to Arduino.

Arduino is a set of tools of open-source software and hardware platforms based on a board that includes electronic circuits with analog and digital inputs and outputs that connect the physical world to the virtual world to create from simple processes to «things» «Intelligent, connected and interactive as robots.

Arduino is key in what is known as educational robotics. This educational method is a way of learning based on the design, assembly and commissioning of our own creations. This education develops creativity, logical thinking, organizational skills, problem solving, collaborative work and encourages project-based learning.

It fosters the development of technological as well as scientific knowledge, addressing the four major areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

This tool is very simple to use and there are many kits for beginners with which to start, no matter if you do not have concepts of electronics or programming, the kits help you a lot to start in this world and gradually acquire more knowledge. And thanks to it’s free software and its hardware can also be modified, you can learn from countless projects that share the community.

With these boards (Arduino) it is possible to send or receive information from any electronic system connected to it. They are able to read inputs (light on a sensor or a finger on a button, etc) and turn it into an output (activate a motor or turn on a light, etc).

Because of its features: low cost, simple for beginners and equally useful for advanced users, open and flexible code and be able to run on Windows, Mac and Linux, this tool  is ideal for education.
